An introduction to fly-fishing

Starter sessions to kick-start you on your fly-fishing journey.

Time for a change of fly on the banks of the River Towy (Llandeilo waters)

A typical session will include:

  • Tackle choice advice
  • Fly-casting fundamentals
  • Artificial fly types, and when to use them
  • Rod/leader setups, and knots
  • Playing and handling fish (with a preference to catch and release)
  • Accessories and clothing
  • Watercraft and safety.

Are you keen to try fly-fishing? Have you always wanted to learn to fly cast?

My beginner days are a great way to experience fly-fishing for the first time. Sessions take place on a local small stillwater or river of your choice (within an hour’s drive of Swansea). Half day sessions are also available but only within a 10-mile radius of Swansea.

All tackle and equipment can be provided, including waders (simply provide your shoe size). I will arrange the fishing day permit on your behalf – all you need to do is purchase a day rod licence by clicking here.
