The Usk is one of the best freestone trout rivers in the country being renowned for its wild brown trout – fish over 18-inches are common, and some grow over 3lb.

Working in conjunction with the Wye and Usk Foundation (WUF), I provide a guiding service on some of the most productive beats. Fishing is best during the early part of the season (March to June), when anglers experience excellent dry fly and wet fly fishing, taking advantage of the prolific fly hatches including march browns, large dark olives and grannom sedges. As summer progresses, early morning and evening become more productive. Spinner and sedge hatches provide exciting fishing opportunities late into the evening. Come September, the daytime fishing improves again before the first signs of Autumn bring the season to a close.

I have an excellent knowledge of Abercynrig, Abergavenny Town Water, Ashford House, Dinas, Penpont and The Breconshire Fishery beats – all available via the WUF Passport booking system.

Season: 3rd March to 30th September.

River Usk guided day. All tackle can be supplied, including chest waders. Note: fishing day permits and Environment Agency rod Licences are not included.
